Two sisters who understand the power of a homecooked breakfast and a strong cuppa have opened a new cafe inspired by their childhoods.

Amie and Claire, the founders of Pound Farm Cafe, were thrilled to open up their new cafe which is attached to Pound Farm shop for the first time on Saturday, May 25.

The modern but cosy cafe offers full English breakfasts, paninis, sandwiches, homemade sweet treats, locally roasted coffee and more - and locals poured through the doors to be the first to try it out.

Located at The Hillocks in Lyneham, just outside Royal Wootton Bassett, the dog friendly cafe has already received rave reviews from the community.

"Breakfast was fantastic, super impressed with Claire and Amie with all their hard work behind the scenes," said customer Leo Swinfen.

Others have described the homemade brownies as 'mouth-wateringly good'.

But for Amie and Claire, this new venture is also a way to pay homage to what they've always known, as the sisters credit their inspiration for the cafe to their childhoods growing up with their grandparents.

"We were lucky enough to spend lots of time growing up with our Nan and Grandad who ran a market garden," said the sisters.

"Nan's kitchen was the hub of the village, no one visited without stopped by for a cuppa (from a teapot that was constantly topped up all day) and a cake while visiting.

"Sunday mornings were a race to the first warm scone and a fight for a seat.

"It's all about creating that homely environment where everyone is welcome and a cuppa comes with a good chat and a homemade something, an environment we took for granted as children."

Their vision to recreate that childhood warmth has already been a success, with so many requests for a full English that staff had to stop serving it half way through the opening day.

The opening was such a success that even photographer Paul Gregory rolled up his sleeves to help out clearing plates and running food.

"The launch weekend has been absolutely amazing. We have had so much support from the community we are truly grateful," said Amie and Claire.

The cafe opens from 9am on Saturdays and from 10am every other day of the week, and staff hope to expand their menu to cater to all dietary requirements in the near future.
