A biker who crashed into a car in Swindon has been arrested after he ran from the scene.

The man in his 20s had been driving his motorbike on Penhill Drive just before 6.10pm on Wednesday, May 29, when he crashed into a car.

Officers from Wiltshire Police rushed to the scene but when they arrived they found that the biker had fled the scene on foot.

He was located soon after on Sunningdale Road and taken to hospital for medical treatment where he was arrested on suspicion of driving while disqualified, driving without a licence and insurance, failing to stop, and dangerous driving.

He was then further arrested on suspicion of failing to provide, as well as breaching sections 4A and 5 of the Public Order Act after abusing officers at the hospital.

Wiltshire Police have not given any information about the car which was also involved, and it currently remains unclear if the car was stationary or if another driver was hit.

"We have arrested a man on suspicion of various offences after he was involved in a collision in Swindon yesterday evening," said a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police.

"He has been taken to custody for questioning, where he remains."
