The building which once housed the Old Town branch of Boots has gone up for sale following its closure in February.

Swindon-based Kilpatrick and Co is taking offers for the former chemist on the corner of Wood Street.

The closure in February 2023 came after the chain revealed it would be closing 300 stores in the UK within the next year, reducing its portfolio from 2,200 to 1,900 sites.

Local and national politicians in Swindon expressed concern at the closure, with councillors calling it a “hammer blow”, with a petition set up voicing residents’ concerns.

Pictures with the listing show the inside of the shop as well as staff and storage areas.

The listing says: “The property comprises a three storey inner terraced building, currently occupied by Boots the chemists, comprising ground floor shop, dispensary, store and toilets with two floors of ancillary  accommodation above, providing additional offices and storage.

“There is  also a  basement. The upper floors are accessed from the rear storage area.

“The first floor comprises two offices, a staff room, three stores and WC. The second floor comprises three store rooms and one further room to the rear with steps access.

“Rear access is available via an alleyway linking to Joiner Lane and Devizes Road.”
