Families flocked to celebrate the revival of Old Town Festival which came back with a bang.
The festival, which had been a fixture of the town for more than 24 years, was put on hold when the world entered a global pandemic in 2020 and has only just found its feet again.
But the Old Town Business Association, who organised the event, made sure that the festival would be coming back with more fun and excitement than ever before.
The atmosphere in Town Gardens was electric for the first day of the festival with live music, entertainment, rides, stalls and even support from Darth Vader himself.
Acts such as Emily Dance Academy strutted their stuff under the bandstand, while local singer-songwriter Tildy performed her debut single which released that same day.
"The atmosphere is just amazing," South Swindon Parish Councillor Linda Kasmaty told the Adver.
"I wasn't expecting such a turnout but a lot of people have gotten involved this year and it's fantastic to see."
The 2024 festival is split into three main parts, with the family fun day in the Town Gardens on Saturday, June 1, a street party in Wood Street on Sunday, June 2, and then various fringe events held up until June 9.
Kris Talikowski, vice-chair of the Old Town Business Association added: “Its history is rooted with us originally, so it feels right to bring it back."
