A new café selling authentic Turkish food and drink has announced it is 'opening soon' in Swindon.
Tulip Authentic Turkish Café will be situated in the former site of JJs Hair Group in Swindon town centre, next to the popular Nepalese restaurant Momo King.
The 723-square-foot building, at 41 Havelock Street, has been empty since late 2023 when the existing hair salon announced that it was relocating to a new home on Crombey Street in Swindon.
But now new signage above the café has confirmed that plans for Tulip Café are well underway with the promise of an opening date soon.
Although very little is known at this stage about the café set to take the hair salon's place, locals are already getting excited about the idea of 'authentic Turkish' food and drink.
"I saw the signs go up recently and I'm actually quite excited to try it out when it opens. There's so many chain cafes now that are just all the same so it'll be good to try something a bit different," said Jenny Smith, who regularly passes through the Street.
The name 'Tulip Cafe' hints that Turkish tea will likely be on the menu, a stable beverage in Turkish culture which is typically served in small glass cups shaped like a tulip, as a sign of hospitality.
