Old Town Festival stormed Wood Street with fantastic smells and live entertainment for day two of the week-long festival.
After a four-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Old Town Festival returned to Swindon this weekend and day two of the celebrations was all about food.
The 'street party' held on Sunday, June 2, covered the length of Wood Street with food stalls serving up meals from across the globe, including American hotdogs, Nepalese fried fish, and classic British sweet treats.
The festival also brought a 'blast from the past' to Swindon as it celebrated the town's Victorian history with a real-life penny farthing, a Victorian/Steampunk costume competition, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
The 2024 Old Town Festival is organised by Old Town Business Association in partnership with South Swindon Parish Council, and is supported by sponsors Los Gatos, The Kings Arms, Deacons and Dominos.
Discussing the annual event, which has a 24-year-long history in Swindon before the 2020 pandemic hit, Kris Talikowski, vice-chair of the Old Town Business Association said: “Its history is rooted with us originally, so it feels right to bring it back."
Fringe events including jazz nights, organ recitals, book events and comedy will continue throughout the week until June 12.
