Residents have expressed concerns about a water feature being sealed off in a park in Swindon.
Locals took to Facebook to express their disappointment about the Angel Ridge Play Area water feature in Old Town being closed, without being consulted beforehand.
Kat Saunders said: “It’s very odd they have done this. Especially when council tax has gone up…you think they would inform people rather than just close it down.”
But South Swindon Parish Council said the measures are temporary while they wait for a replacement tap.
A spokesperson for South Swindon Parish Council said: “We are currently awaiting delivery of a new tap at Angel Ridge. The tap is a bespoke part from when the play area was built as part of the wider Okus Development. Unfortunately, the part can wear prematurely through excessive use and icy conditions.
“To combat the icy conditions, we switch the water off from October to March, but we occasionally will leave it on a little later in the year if the weather is milder. We have installed signage to advise gentle use. We hope to have the feature back in operation soon.”
