The opening of Swindon's Hollywood Bowl has been delayed for a second time.

The latest addition to the national chain of bowling alleys should have opened by the end of spring but since that date was first announced last October, it has been pushed back to summer and now 'late 2024'.

The venue will be set up in Unit 15 of Greenbridge Retail and Leisure Park, near Drakes Way, which once housed Currys PC World until 2021 and was then used as a temporary base for the charity Computers for Africa until the retailer's lease ran out.

Hollywood Bowl applied for a premises licence in May 2023 and revealed in October that it was aiming to welcome its first customers to the venue by late spring.

The webpage promoting the Swindon site has since changed twice to indicate delays to the original opening date.

A Hollywood Bowl Group spokesperson said: “Plans to transform the site at Greenbridge Retail and Leisure Park are now underway and progressing positively.

"We will be on-site in August, which will see us opening to guests in late 2024.

"Once complete, Hollywood Bowl Swindon will offer affordable fun and family entertainment.

"The centre will feature 22 state-of-the-art bowling lanes, as well as the latest amusement arcades and tasty food and drink for families and friends to enjoy.”
