Two people have been charged in connection with a stabbing in Royal Wootton Bassett.

Police officers and paramedics responded to 999 calls from the New Road area of Royal Wootton Bassett just before 9.30pm on Monday, June 3.

An air ambulance landed at the scene and took the teenage stabbing victim to hospital for treatment.

The 16-year-old boy's injuries are believed to be serious but not life-changing or life-threatening.

At the time, police arrested three suspects in relation to the incident.

On Wednesday morning, the force confirmed that two of them - a 17-year-old male from Royal Wootton Bassett and a 17-year-old male from Swindon - have now been charged with possession of a knife blade in a public place and a section 18 offence of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

The defendants have been remanded in custody and are due to appear in Swindon Magistrates' Court this morning.
