Police officers in Swindon spent an afternoon speaking to local people in the town centre to hear more about their concerns with anti-social behaviour.

Officers visited various locations in the town centre and further afield on Wednesday, June 5, to discuss anti-social behaviour with security staff at local businesses.

PC Michael Barnes said: "ASB can cause numerous issues within the community and speaking with security enables us to identify any hotspots where ASB occurs.

"If you see officers out and about, please stop and have a chat about any concerns you may have and what we can do to help.”

In March, it was announced that a double-track approach to addressing anti-social behaviour in Swindon town centre would see more police officers patrolling the streets.

Swindon Borough Council also has more officers devoted to the issue, who will be working closely with the police and the town centre safety wardens.

PC Barreto said at the time: “It’s important that people see us in the town centre. I will give people extra reassurance that we are here, and that we can help people with any issues they face.

“We want to give people who come into town, and businesses confidence that we will help them and give them confidence.”
