The suspects arrested after police closed an Old Town road and raided a nearby address have appeared in court.

Stuart Randall, of High Street, appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

The 43-year-old is accused of having a knife while in public in Godwin Court on June 4 and unlawfully and intentionally threatening Nina Austin with it in such a way that a reasonable person who was exposed to the same threat would think that there was an immediate risk of physical harm.

He entered no plea to the charge and has been taken into custody until his trial begins at Swindon Crown Court on July 5.

Austin herself was also arrested and charged with an offence, and also appeared in court on June 5.

The 45-year-old of no fixed abode, indicated a plea of guilty to failing to comply with notification requirements of the sex offenders register.

Between May 23 and June 4, 2024, she failed without reasonable excuse to complete the notification requirements within three days of either conviction, caution, or release from prison.

The defendant received a £100 fine.

This comes after police closed High Street for much of Tuesday morning and entered an address above the old Co-op Funeralcare building which was subject to a closure order.
