The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates Court in early June.

SWINDON: Octavio Moreno, of Clevedon Gardens in Hounslow, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle along Drove Road in Swindon on December 10, 2023, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in the defendant’s blood namely 145 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millitres of blood, exceeded the prescribed limit.

The motorist has been banned from driving for 17 months, fined £150, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs plus £60 to fund victim services.

ELDENE: Ryan Baverstock, of Bowleymead, has been sentenced for drug driving.

The 25-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a BMW along Thamesdown Drive on January 12, 2024, when the proportion of a controlled drug, namely Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, in his blood - 3 micrograms of drug per litre of blood - exceeded the specified limit.

He has been banned from driving for 38 months - more than three years - and ordered to pay a £120 fine as well as £85 in court costs plus £48 to fund victim services.

HAYDON END: Jimmy George, of Casterbridge Road, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 44-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle along Marlborough Road in Chiseldon on May 17, 2024, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath namely 95 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

He received a 24-month driving ban and a community order that requires him to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work in the next year as well as pay £85 in court costs plus £114 to fund victim services.

BLUNSDON ST ANDREW: Terence Manthando, of Ashton Close, has been sentenced for a driving offence.

The 58-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Volkswagen Tigan along Dorcan Way without due care and attention on May 18, 2024.

He received three penalty points on his driving licence and a fine of £169, and must also pay £85 in court costs plus £68 to fund victim services.

TOWN CENTRE: Kerry-Ann Horwat, of Harding Street, has been sentenced for thefts from a shop.

The 42-year-old indicated pleas of guilty to stealing sunglasses from Vision Express on Regent Street worth £400 and £150 on May 9, 2024, and £45 on May 13.

She received a community order that requires her to pay £595 in compensation, carry out up to 25 rehabilitation activity days, and not enter parts of the town centre for 18 months.

MOREDON: Brandon Harris, of Whitworth Road, has been sentenced for four offences.

The 26-year-old indicated pleas of guilty to taking items worth £150 from another person's vehicle in Swindon on December 14, 2023, committing fraud on the same date by using a stolen bank card in attempt to purchase items, stealing a passport from a man between October 9 and December 9, 2023, and having herbal cannabis in his possession on May 15, 2024.

He must pay £150 in compensation to the victim of the theft from a motor vehicle as well as a £50 fine and 

The Class B drug has been forfeited and destroyed.

OLD TOWN: Patrick Connors, of Western Street, has been sentenced for assault by beating of an emergency worker.

The 42-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to hitting a police officer in Swindon on May 4, 2024.

He must pay £50 in compensation to his victim.
