New food hygiene ratings have been published for five establishments in Swindon

Restaurants, pubs and cafes are among the venues that were visited by the council's food hygiene inspectors.

This includes the Coate Water Cafe at Coate Water Country Park which was visited by inspectors on May 21 and the Lalbagh Restaurant on Rodbourne Road which had its inspection on May 14.

Also visited were The Freke Arms, Swanborough Lane, Hannington, The Jolly Tar Inn, Queens Road Hannington and The Red Lion in Castle Eaton.

All three of these were inspected on May 17.

The results were published recently and it is good news for all of them because they have all been given the highest possible score of five stars.

This means that all of these places demonstrate very good hygienic food handling, including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage.

They are also on top of their cleanliness and the condition of the facilities and building (including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control) to enable good food hygiene

Finally, they have food management of food safety, meaning systems or checks are in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future
