One of the country's biggest pharmaceutical and beauty retailers has enjoyed its first few days of opening at a new location in Swindon.
Superdrug opened a store at the Greenbridge Retail Park on Monday and shoppers have been checking it out since then.
A planning application showed that the retailer first set its sights on the former Sports Direct at the Orbital Shopping Park, before it changed course to the former Wilko it now inhabits in Greenbridge.
Superdrug property director Nigel Duxbury said: “We are delighted to be opening a new store in Swindon’s Greenbridge Retail Park.
"We are confident that local customers will love and welcome the new store, as it offers a wide range of popular health and beauty brands, a luxury fragrance counter, and a professional Beauty Studio.”
The new store will offer customers access to the latest health and beauty products, everyday toiletries, beauty treatments, and luxury fragrances such as Superdrug’s own-brand cosmetics range Studio London as well as other popular ranges including B. Skin, Me+, Vitamin E, Optimum and Naturally Radiant.
The retailer boasts of offering a competitive array of exclusive beauty and personal care brands with products from the likes of Relove by Revolution and MUA, as well as trending brands including Morphe 2 and Avon.
Shoppers can find their go-to scent at the store’s new fragrance counter, which includes promotions on perfume and aftershave by premium brands such as YSL, Viktor & Rolf, Giorgio Armani, Prada and Valentino.
The Greenbridge store's Beauty Studio area allows shoppers to access professional treatments at affordable prices. Within Beauty Studio, customers will have access to eyebrow, nail, and piercing services.
Signs of life were first spotted at the closed Wilko store in April, with witnesses describing seeing the store being ripped out last week, ahead of the arrival of signage indicating what it would become.
Vinyl advertisements were then added to the windows stating that Superdrug looks set to open a store there soon.
Around this time, a spokesperson for Superdrug also confirmed that plans for the Orbital that had first been revealed in a planning application in January had been shelved.
They said: "There won’t be a store at Orbital shopping centre at this moment in time."
Towards the end of May, signage was installed at the front of the store and it was soon confirmed by the firm that Monday, June 10, would be its opening date.
