Roadworks will soon be starting on a busy road in the north of the town.

Swindon Borough Council has confirmed that Tadpole Lane will be resurfaced at the end of the month.

As part of this work, road closures will be put in place for a number of days, with motorists diverted elsewhere.

A spokesperson for the council said: "The purpose of this scheme is to replace the deteriorating surface, increase the life span of the carriageway and to provide a safer running surface for road users.

"The works will include the surface dressing of the existing carriageway, reinstatement of existing road markings, high friction surface where required, cleaning and jetting of existing drainage assets as necessary."

The stretch of Tadpole Lane affected is between, the Tadpole Lane/Oakhurst Way roundabout heading west to Tadpole Lane to the borough boundary.

The works are provisionally programmed to commence on Tuesday, June 25, for four shifts between the hours of 6pm-6am, subject to weather and plant other conditions.

The spokesperson added: "Due to the nature of the works and the local environment, the works will be carried out within a road closure to ensure that adequate health & safety is maintained for the contractor and local residents.

"The proposed diversion route for all ‘through traffic’ during these works will be via Eastbound on Tadpole Lane, Packhorse Lane, B4553 junction, Southbound B4553 , barely left at The fox junction, B4553 through to Cowleaze B4553, Purton Road to A4198 Thamesdown Drive and vice versa."
