The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates' Court earlier this month.

SWINDON: Tomas Mrocek, of Radstock Avenue, has been jailed for harassment without violence.

The 46-year-old pleaded guilty to pursuing a code of conduct that amounted to harassing a woman by following her to and from her place of work and home and sending her messages between March 1 and July 24, 2023.

He has been jailed for 12 weeks due to this persistent offence which happened over period of three months and because he has committed similar offences against the same victim before.

A new restraining order prevents the defendant from going within 100 metres of the victim’s home or place of work.

He must also pay £85 in court costs plus £154 to fund victim services.

MOTORWAY: Christopher Chitima, of Broad Walk in Knowle, Bristol, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 31-year-old pleaded guilty to driving along the M4 in Swindon on May 28, 2024, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath, namely 40 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

He has been banned from driving for 40 months, fined £384, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs plus £154 to fund victim services.

OLD TOWN: Ryan Pearce, of Bath Road, has been sentenced for possessing a blade in a public place.

The 23-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to having a knife while on Whitbourne Avenue on September 2, 2023.

He must carry out up to 20 rehabilitation activity days as well as pay £85 in court costs plus £154 to fund victim services.

A six-month prison sentence has been suspended for 24 months because the defendant was using drugs and alcohol with very poor mental health at the time of the offence but has since engaged with CGL and mental health services voluntarily and is now medicated.

PENHILL: Renuka Rai, of Hilmarton Avenue, has been sentenced for a driving offence.

The 31-year-old changed their plea to guilty regarding a charge of driving a white Audi A3 along the M4 on January 12, 2024, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in their breath, namely 56 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

The defendant has been banned from driving for 12 months, fined £567, and ordered to pay £250 in court costs plus £227 to fund victim services.

PARK SOUTH: Amy Hatch, of Kemerton Walk, has been sentenced for assault by beating.

The 35-year-old pleaded guilty to hitting a woman in Swindon on March 22, 2024.

She received a fine of £80 and must also pay £85 in court costs.

TOOTHILL: Jack Sheppard, of Stamford Close, has been sentenced for theft from a shop.

The 27-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to taking goods worth £437.92 from TK Maxx on December 3, 2023.

The defendant must pay the value of the stolen goods back in compensation.

SWINDON: Simon Graham, of Croft Road, has been sentenced for possession of Class A drugs and assault by beating.

The 33-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to having cocaine in Swindon on March 2, 2024, and pleaded guilty to hitting a man on the same day.

He must pay a fine of £572 as well as £85 in court costs plus £230 to fund victim services, and have the illegal substance forfeited and destroyed.

GRANGE PARK: Andrew Gardiner, of Holbein Court, has been sentenced for assault by beating of an emergency worker.

The 39-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to hitting a police officer on May 26, 2024.

He must pay a fine of £600 as well as court costs of £85 in court costs plus £240 to fund victim services.
