A road that was closed by a Thames Water pipe bursting could remain shut for “days”.
Thames Water have said that repair work following the burst water main on Banbridge Close, Swindon, will keep the B4534 closed.
Swindon Borough Council announced the road closure around 6.30am this morning, June 17.
A Thames Water spokesperson said: “Our engineers are carrying out urgent repair work following a burst water mains pipe on Banbridge Close, off Whitehill Way in Swindon.
“We expect to complete the repair and road reinstatement over the coming days.
“During this time, the B4534 is closed from the Tewkesbury Way and Freshbrook sides and there is no right turn off Gainsborough Way or left turn off Grange Park Way.
“We are very sorry to local residents and motorists for any disruption caused while we carry out this necessary repair work.
“Our teams have isolated this section of pipe to keep the taps flowing for our customers and all properties should have supply but may experience slightly lower pressure.”
The council’s latest update states that most of the water has been drained but the road remains impassable at places.
