Travellers who set up camp in a disused park and ride in Swindon have been moved on.
Caravans appeared in the old Wroughton park and ride facility off Pipers Way on May 29.
Swindon Borough Council said at the time that the group had gained access to the site and then secured it in a way that prevented the local authority from getting inside.
On Monday evening, a spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a group of travellers, who had set up camp in the former Wroughton Park and Ride on Pipers Way, have now left the site.
“It comes after we secured a court order from Swindon Magistrates' Court last week granting us powers to move them on.
“We’re now in the process of securing the site as well as looking into what extra measures can be taken to prevent this from happening again.
“The site stopped being used as a formal park and ride back in 2007, but carried on as a car park until a few years ago.
“It was also used as a regional Covid-19 test centre during the pandemic.
“We're currently looking at options for the future use of the site.”
