The scene of a fatal collision in Swindon has now reopened.

Police closed Upham Road between the junctions of Campden Road and Brixham Avenue at around 5.40pm on Monday afternoon after responding to reports of a road traffic collision.

Ambulances and fire engines also attended the area.

A Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We received a call at 6.27pm on Monday evening about a road traffic collision on Upham Road, Old Walcot. A crew from Swindon attended to assist our police and ambulance colleagues. Our stop was in at 6.50pm."

Just before midnight, Wiltshire Police confirmed that a man in his 50s had died and a man in his 30s had been arrested and taken into custody by officers.

Upham Road remained closed throughout the night before reopening at around 9.30am on Tuesday.

Signs and cones put in place for the closure were moved onto grass verges so that traffic could access the route.
