A Malmesbury wakeboard rider has been selected to be in the GB team after reaching the podium in last year's UK nationals.

Callum Smith will be representing Wakeboard UK at the European Championships in August, then later in the year the World Championships.

Since 2019 Callum has been competing behind boat over the past five years, working really hard to improve his riding skills, execute complex tricks and continues to improve his riding.

Callum will be competing in the UK throughout the season.

He said: “From the very first day on the water I loved it and knew this was going to be a sport that would become my passion.

“The biggest surprise was the phone call I received telling me I’d been selected to represent my country with the Wakeboard GB Team, to which I’m very proud of."

Callum trains and coaches at Lakeside Ski & Wake, South Cerney, Gloucestershire, and when he is on the lake behind the boat performing his complex routine, he is very impressive, brave and a great ambassador for the sport.

Wakeboarding is a self-funded sport without national funding

Callum is looking for funding and sponsorship to help pay all expenses to allow him to compete, including equipment costs, travel, accommodation, entrance fees and training fees.
