Residents hoping to send parcels in North Swindon will find themselves in a tricky situation for the next month after a post office announced its sudden closure.
Abbey Meads Post Office, on Elstree Way in Swindon, is already turning locals away after it closed this week for more than a month.
The temporary closure is to allow for extensive building work to be carried out at the premises, which is expected to take five weeks to complete.
According to the Post Office, the Abbey Mead branch which closed at 3pm on Wednesday, June 19 will remain closed until at least Monday, July 22.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers during the work," said Daniel Rooney, Post Office Partner Account Manager.
"The safety of our customers is paramount, therefore, to allow for the building work to take place, it is necessary for the service to close temporarily.”
During the closure, Swindon locals are being urged to use other nearby branches.
For Abbey Mead residents, the nearest branches are:
- Penhill Post Office Unit 1 Braydon Court, Penhill Drive, Swindon, SN2 5BL
- Moredon Post Office, 5A Purton Road, Moredon, Swindon, SN2 2LN
- Rodbourne Cheyney Post Office, 366 Cheney Manor Road, SN2 2PF
- Clive Parade Post Office 533 Cricklade Road, Swindon, SN2 1AH
