A knife has been found in a Swindon play park.

The weapon was discovered at an undisclosed park in West Swindon by a member of the public who immediately raised the alarm and called the police.

PC Rush and PC Koka from Wiltshire Police visited  the park and were able to locate and seize the weapon, which has now been taken away to be destroyed.

But the incident has raised concern among locals about the safety of children's play parks in the town.

"If anyone has information on who they believe to be carrying/in possession of knives, I'd urge you to call in via 101 or to report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111," said PC Rush.

"In the event of an emergency, please always call 999 in the first instance.

"In the event a knife is discovered in public, please report the findings and await officers’ attendance.”
