An uninsured driver left a sign hanging from its fixings a crashed into a ditch at a known dangerous junction to Swindon.
The driver crashed on Cricklade Road near The Freke Arms around 7.50am on Wednesday (June 26).
The crash partially blocked the road, the B4019 from Highworth to Swindon, westbound causing some traffic.
The vehicle "took out" a road sign and left skid marks in the grass verge. They were left with no reported injuries, though they were reported by the police for lack of insurance.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We received a report of a collision on the Blunsdon Road near the Freke Arms shortly before 7.50am this morning.
“A vehicle ended in a ditch having taken out a signal post. No injuries reported, driver reported for having no insurance.”
Traffic had returned to normal by 9.20am. The turning for Hannington, where the crash happened, was the scene of a fatal scooter accident in June 2021.
Dad of two Paul Patterson, 47, was riding his Piaggio Scooter when he crashed with a Lexus and was killed.
Since then calls have been made to make the junction safer, including a petition, blaming the junction’s poor layout.
