A teenager who was taken to hospital with a “serious” injury after a police chase has been arrested.

Officers pursued a driver, a man in his late teens, after he allegedly failed to stop his vehicle shortly before 10.25am on Tuesday, July 2, in Calne.

The chase came to an end when the vehicle was reportedly involved in a crash on Chapel Street in Derry Hill, between Calne and Chippenham.

The teenager was taken to hospital with a suspected leg injury, suffered in the crash, which is not believed to be life changing or life threatening.

He was also arrested for failing to stop, dangerous driving, driving without a licence or insurance and taking without consent.

Wiltshire Police have since referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, as is mandatory following serious injury involving police involvement.

The force says the pursuit was authorised and added they are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Any witnesses have been urged to come forward.

A spokesperson said: “A man in his late teens has been arrested for a number of driving offences following an authorised pursuit in Calne.
