An alleged “middle lane hogger” has been fined and reported to court after being stopped on the M4.
Police pulled over a van driver on the M4 in Wiltshire on Tuesday, July 2, after they reportedly used the middle lane of the motorway unnecessarily.
An image of the incident released by police shows the vehicle travelling in the second lane despite there being clear space ahead of it in the left-hand lane.
The police car, which was behind the van in lane one, was doing 60mph at the time according to its monitor.
When the van was stopped, officers say the driver was not wearing their seatbelt and they have since been reported to court.

A spokesperson for the force added: “Another middle lane hogger on the motorway stopped by Road Policing Units.
“Also the driver was not wearing their seatbelt.”
In the early hours of the following morning, a car was seized during police patrols on the motorway, after it was reportedly clocked being driven at 100mph.
Police say further checks revealed the driver only had a provisional licence and no insurance.
