Ex-GWH nurse escapes jail after filming men and child in Asda toilets

Pheddie Delos Reyes was working as a community nurse at Swindon's Great Western Hospital when he committed a number of voyeurism offences at the supermarket. 

The 29-year-old, now of Longlevens Road, Manchester, appeared before Bolton Crown Court on June 26 to learn his fate after pleading guilty to all of the charges. 

He received 16 months imprisonment suspended for 24 months for making an indecent image of a child, and then two concurrent sentences of four months for voyeurism over two days. 

He was also ordered to complete 26 days of building choices programme, 15 days of rehabilitation with the probation service, and was given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order lasting ten years. 

He was also suspended from working by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Before the sentencing hearing, the court had previously heard how Delos Reyes had entered the Asda store in Swindon at 6.10pm on July 18, 2023, and went to the toilets where he stayed for two hours.

CCTV showed that during the time Reyes was in the toilet, 15 males had entered and left. 

Reyes was caught after a man using the toilets noticed a hole and saw a camera recording.

The person shouted to the rest of the toilet 'there's someone taking photos of us' before alerting supermarket staff and security. 

Police were called and a distressed Delos Reyes was arrested, but needed to be taken to hospital after having a panic attack. 

His devices were searched and videos of men using the urinals were found on a phone, as well as an image of a child also using the urinals.

One of the videos was dated July 13, and CCTV confirmed that Reyes had been present in the Asda store on that date as well. 

Reyes was remanded into custody in January this year, after failing to attend scheduled court dates. 

Reyes' barrister Mr Ross argued that he should not receive a prison sentence because of the amount of time he had already been in prison.

He said: "He recognises that he made a shockingly bad choice, he is remorseful, and he has already been incarcerated in difficult circumstances because of the nature of the offences."

But Judge Clarke KC was open to considering an alternative to prison but reluctant to do so until an issue over where Delos Reyes was living was resolved, adjourning the sentencing until June 26.
