Several restaurants and takeaways around Swindon have received new food hygiene ratings.
The Food Standards Agency’s website has updated the pages of nine local establishments to reflect the results of recent inspections by Swindon Borough Council officers.
The Tap and Barrel pub’s restaurant area, known as Super Mario Fast Food, received a rating of three out of five as all three categories - Hygienic food handling, the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, and management of food safety - were considered to be generally satisfactory by inspectors who visited the Manchester Road business on June 11.
Further along the same road, Turkish restaurant Nemrut received an overall rating of four out of five – Good – after inspectors had a look around on May 9, while fellow Manchester Road eatery Pizza King Chicken was rated four on May 9.
Inspectors decided that both had good hygienic food handling and management of food safety, while the cleanliness and condition of the facilities and buildings were each generally satisfactory.
The Party Warehouse in BSS House on Cheney Manor Industrial Estate, and the Swindon Young Musicians Café at the Platform Youth Centre on Faringdon Road each received the full five out of five after inspections were carried out on June 24 and 22, respectively.
Elsewhere, The Blunsdon Arms pub on Lady Lane passed with top marks with an overall Very Good rating after an inspection on May 15, as did Redhouse Plaice on Millgrove Street in Redhouse on May 17.
The Grill and Fish Bar takeaway on Worsley Road in Freshbrook received a score of four following a visit on June 11 as its hygienic food handling was generally satisfactory while the other two categories were considered to be of a good standard.
In Old Town, the Marmaris takeaway on Devizes Road received four out of five in its June 10 assessment.
Staff had a good understanding of hygienic food handling and kept the facilities and building clean, but the management of food safety had rood for improvement as it was considered to be generally satisfactory
These latest ratings mean that of Swindon's 132 takeaways with ratings, 100 (76 per cent) of them have ratings of five out of five and none of them have ratings of zero.
