Swindon's top 10 restaurants according to Tripadvisor

Using Tripadvisor reviews, MG Timber and Online Marketing Surgery have compiled a handy guide for those looking for the top-rated places to eat out in and around the town.

And topping the charts is Indian restaurant Ruchi. Located on Victoria Road, the establishment has a 4.5-star rating on Tripadvisor and a total of 1,802 reviews. One review said, "every meal was a treat," and other reviews have described the service as ‘'exceptional'’ and "friendly and accommodating."

The Jewel in The Crown, another Indian restaurant, also features on the list, with a rating of 4.5 from 1,689 reviews. Located on Victoria Road, one review said "would confidently say the best curry house in Swindon by a mile, the staff are extremely attentive and always happy to accommodate to our every request".

Taking fourth spot is Greek restaurant Greek Olive, which is located on Faringdon Road and serves authentic Greek food. Also achieving a rating of 4.5, the portions have been described as good value for money, with a review saying: "Absolutely delicious greek food, with home style cooking. The portions were very generous so we didn't need dessert afterwards! We received very attentive service whilst here too."

Moray Road's Bandido Burritos launched in late 2018 and has already made its way onto the list. Serving authentic Mexican street food, they provide a delivery service as well as dining, and is one of the two places rated five stars in this list. One review said: "the varied menu practically begs for a return."

Next on the list is Mario’s, an Italian restaurant located on Wood Street. With also a 4.5-star rating, it is known for its warm and inviting atmosphere and dishes that are exceptional value. A recent review said: "Thank you so much for a wonderful evening. This was my retirement meal with a large group of my work colleagues. The food, staff and atmosphere was amazing and made the evening so memorable. Thank you!"

Jicsaw Thai Restaurant is located on High Street in Cricklade, is the only Thai food restaurant on the list and has had a total of 452 reviews. One user on Trip Advisor has said: "This restaurant is absolutely superb. If you like Thai food this is the most authentic restaurant you will experience. They also do takeaway. It’s a delight."

Up next is Fabios Italian Restaurant on Bath Road. They have carefully created menus to ensure a wide selection of dishes for customers, and has been reviewed as a "great find" and "absolutely delicious." 

Also featuring on the list is La Strada Restaurant & Bar. Serving Italian food in Broad Hinton, this is the other 5-star restaurant on the list. Having been reviewed 148 times, one impressed visitor said "An excellent Italian restaurant that one wouldn't expect to find in rural Wiltshire! I almost didn't entirely believe all the 5 star reviews but trust me - its all true and more. This restaurant is worth a visit."

Two British pubs, The New Calley Arms and The Bakers Arms. Located on Ham Road, New Calley Arms serves classic British cuisine and has been given a 4.5 rating, with one reviewer saying "Diverse and excellent menu with fresh, in-season menu items. The roast pork with black pudding is insane and the portions on a Sunday are huge! Book in advance! Lovely bar area and cosy feeling pub." 

Bakers Arms is on Badbury Lane, and is renowned for its traditional fish and chips. One reviewer wrote: "Probably the best fish and chips we've ever had and the staff were friendly too. Apparently they do something with their batter using rice, which makes it extra light and lovely" is how one reviewer rated the dish. 

Eight out of the 10 restaurants received the Trip Advisor Travellers’ Choice award in 2023, with only The Bakers Arms and Jicsaw Thai Restaurant missing out.
