A Highworth bakery run by an entrepreneurial young cook has received its first food hygiene rating.
Chloe Hayward opened Chloe’s in April, selling bread and baked treats seven days a week.
Following the first visit by the council hygiene inspectors, the High Street shop has received a four-star rating out of five.
The review was largely positive, with “good” food handling and management of food safety.
Meanwhile, cleanliness and condition of facilities and building were “generally satisfactory”.
Chloe explained: “We lost a mark as we only had one sink but we’ve had a second one fitted so we’re getting rescored so I can get the five.”
The eatery is hoping for a reinspection in two weeks when it hopes to get full marks.
The Food Standards Agency advises: “Separate sinks must be provided, where necessary, for washing food and cleaning equipment in food preparation areas.”
Generally, two sinks are required minimum: one for hand washing and another for washing and cleaning equipment.
Chloe’s sells treats and handmade bread including white, wholemeal and seeded and also sells ready-made sandwiches.
When it opened, popularity was such that bread supplies were exhausted, meaning a new -ordering system is available.
