Firefighters from Stratton St Margaret Fire Station were scrambled to a nearby car fire at the weekend. 

The vehicle erupted into flames just across the Swindon border, on the spine road in South Cerney. 

When the local crew got there they said the car was "well alight". 

(Image: Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue) In a post on Facebook they on Sunday, they said the flames were extinguished with the help of two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and one main jet. 

The remains of the car showed the extent of the damage. 

While the metal body remained, the tyres, front and rear were heavily destroyed. 

It is understood that no one was hurt during the incident.
