A school has issued an explanation following its latest food hygiene rating.
Ruskin Junior School scored a three in an inspection on June 10 by Swindon Borough Council hygiene inspectors, meaning “generally satisfactory”.
While it attained “good” food hygiene and safety, its structural compliance and the confidence in management were “generally satisfactory”.

A spokesperson for the "good" rated Ofsted school said the score fell due to “unexpected staff absence”, and a score of three “enables good food hygiene”.
The school is managed by the Blue Kite Academy Trust which manages 13 schools for young learners around Swindon.
The spokesperson said all the other Trust’s schools have five-star ratings, and Ruskin is expecting the same following a reinspection later this week.

The full statement read: “The food hygiene rating for the school dropped due to unexpected staff absence.
“A food hygiene rating of 3 is generally satisfactory and enables good food hygiene, however, all of our schools have a 5 star rating and we always aim for the highest standards possible.
“The school and the Trust have worked hard to ensure standards are returned and we are expecting the 5 star rating to be reinstated later this week when the inspector is due to visit.”
