Wiltshire is set to see temperatures rise almost as high as 30C this week, despite heavy rainfall during the first half of the month.
The ancient tradition of St Swithin’s Day (July 15) has recently seen a revival after featuring prominently in the Netflix series 'One Day'. It states that if it rains on St Swithin's Day, it'll rain for the rest of the summer.
This prediction has been particularly concerning this year as July 15, like much of the first half of July, was a wet and windy one for Wiltshire with higher-than-average rainfall.
But locals need not be alarmed, as the Met Office predicts sunnier skies are on their way - with temperatures reaching as high as 29C.
"There's a brief hot spell to come across South Eastern areas to end the week and today is going to be a considerably drier and warmer day across much of the UK," said Met Office Meteorologist Annie Shuttleworth.
"Heat will start to build through this afternoon, quite a difference from the beginning of this week."
For all areas of Wiltshire from Swindon to Trowbridge, temperatures are set to reach their height of 29C on Friday at approximately 4pm.
Here's a look at the forecast for the coming week in Wiltshire:
Wednesday - Highs of 23C.
Temperatures will rise steadily throughout the day from around 16C at 9am, reaching 23C by mid-afternoon before dropping again once the sun goes down. Skies will be slightly overcast with sunny intervals.
Thursday - Highs of 26C.
Thursday will be mostly sunny with some cloud, and temperatures will begin at 14C when the sun comes up at 7am, before rising to 26C in the early-mid afternoon. It will remain above 20C until 10pm.
Friday - Highs of 29C.
The mini heatwave will reach its peak on Friday, with sunny skies all day. Temperatures will already by at 23C by 10am, and will rise to 27C by 1pm and 29C by 4pm before dropping slowly into the early evening.
Saturday - Highs of 25C.
Saturday will still be warm and largely sunny, but temperatures will drop slightly from Friday.
Sunday - Highs of 22C.
By the end of the week, temperatures are set to return to what they were at the beginning of the week, with highs of around 22C. The morning will start slightly colder at 17C and the skies are set to be mostly sunny with some cloud.
