Fire engines and police cars blocked Regent Circus for two hours after witnesses reported seeing someone on the leisure complex’s roof.
An aerial ladder platform from central Swindon stretched to the top of the town centre structure to reach the man.
A long cordon prevented pedestrians from accessing the plaza in front of Regent Circus.

At least two fire engines and three police cars along with two other Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service vehicles were present.
Customers and staff from the various restaurants nearby paused to observe the unusually high amount of emergency services in the area.

One told the Adver that the emergency had been ongoing since around 8pm and that the man on the roof had climbed up using scaffolding and appeared to be distressed or under the influence.
At around 9.45pm, officers brought a man wearing a grey hoodie and grey joggers into the back of a police van which soon left the scene.
The cordons were then removed and traffic began to flow as normal.
