A family-run furniture shop that has served generations of Wiltshire locals is set to leave its hometown.

D&R Furnishers, located on The Parade, was first founded by a member of the Roys of Wroxham family in 1903 and has been serving families in Marlborough since 1985.

The firm is run by the great-grandchildren of the founder and has become a staple of the town.

But for D&R Furnishers, the time has come to draw its Marlborough chapter to an end, as the company will relocate to two new showrooms in Manton in early September.

“It's important we look to the future and provide our customers with an enhanced retail experience that will enable us to showcase a wider range of both existing and new products from leading and niche brands," said Director Ross Dible.

"That's why we are pleased to acquire the new showrooms in nearby Manton village.

“Each showroom will allow us customers to ‘shop local’ and discover leading furnishing and interior brands close to home."

The first showroom, on Elm Tree Business Park in Manton, will be a comprehensive ‘flooring library’ outlet specialising in carpet and flooring displays from brands such as Brintons, Crucial Trading, Amtico, Woodpecker and Westex.

At the rear of the showroom, customers will find the 'designer sample room', where they can explore a range of designer fabric brands and samples.

Another new room in the D&R Furnishers showroom is the 'fabric roll and trimmings’ library where customers can explore a wider selection of fabric options, trimmings and accompanying interior products such as poles, tracks, and lining options.

Despite the change, D&R Furnishers has made it clear that its free at-home measuring service for curtains, blinds and shutters will not be going anywhere.

The Parade shop will remain open to customers until the relocation is complete in September 2024, and discounts will be available on all stock and special orders throughout July and August.

D&R Furnishers directors and staff say they will host a customer open day at the new showrooms with special offers, and details will be announced closer to the time.
