A primary school is set to transform its play provision thanks to a £500 donation from a housebuilder.

The funds received by Wanborough Primary School from Bellway will be used to purchase new play equipment and resources to improve pupils' lunchtime play experience.

Bellway is currently building new homes at its Redlands Grove development in the village.

Bellway representatives visited the school to meet staff and pupils and to hand over the cheque.

The new play equipment will include role play items, building blocks, and outdoor games.

Head teacher at Wanborough Primary School, Andrew Drury, said: "This very generous donation from Bellway will be used to assist us in our transformation of play opportunities for the children during our school lunchtime."

Christel Hawkins, sales manager for Bellway South West, said: "Having a safe, inspiring and engaging environment to play in is vital for any child’s development so we are extremely pleased that our donation to Wanborough Primary School will enable them to transform the play opportunities for their pupils."

Bellway is building 81 new homes in the first phase at Redlands Grove, on land off Wanborough Road.

The development is part of a wider scheme of 370 homes being built on the former Redlands Airfield.
