A man was allegedly “struck repeatedly over the head” during a serious assault at Swindon Bus Station.
Officers raced to the bus station at around 11.50pm on Thursday, July 18, after reports that a man in his 40s had been assaulted.
The victim suffered injuries which required hospital treatment but has since been discharged.
A man in his 40s was subsequently arrested on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm and remains in custody for questioning at the time of writing.

On the morning of Friday, July 19, a cordon remained in place at the scene and officers stood guard.
Police say their investigation is still ongoing and crime scenes will remain in place at the bus station, Old Town, and Western Street while further work is carried out.
A spokesperson for the force said: “We have arrested a man on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm following a serious assault at Swindon Bus Station yesterday evening (July 18).
“Scenes remain in place at the bus station and Western Street, Old Town, while we conduct further enquiries.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact us on 101 quoting log 392 of yesterday’s date.”
