It appears that an off-licence is set to open right next door to a Tesco.
A banner on a previously empty unit in Newburgh Place, Highworth, has stated that a liquor and wine store will be coming soon.
The building, which was formerly occupied by Wiltshire Vape Co, was placed on the market by Kilpatrick & Co at the end of that business's lease
The property company has now confirmed to the Adver that a new letting of a shop and flat has been secured.
Alex Hill of Kilpatrick & Co, which has a number of properties for sale in Swindon, said “ We are pleased to complete this letting and get another shop reoccupied in Wiltshire and wish the new tenant success with their business.”
Reaction to the store's impending arrival from locals has been mostly positive, with many saying that it will be a 'good thing' that the Tesco directly next door will have some competition.
One person said: "It's been a while since we had a proper off-license there, and I can't wait. It'll do that Tesco a lot of good to have some healthy competition nearby.
Another person said: "I hope they get some weird and wonderful things in that you can't get from the regular supermarkets."
