A 'body' spotted near railway tracks that caused widespread delays and cancellations turned out to be a mannequin.
One police car, two ambulances, an ambulance car, and a National Rail response unit surrounded the railway bridge under Swindon Road near Greenbridge Retail Park at around 1pm on Friday.
Great Western Railway delayed and cancelled services while the emergency services investigated the scene.
Officers had been called out to reports of what was suspected to be a casualty on the track.
However, British Transport Police have since confirmed that the potential 'person' on the tracks has been removed and was actually a model.
A spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the line near Swindon railway station just after 1pm today (July 19) to reports of a possible casualty on the tracks.
"Officers attended and it was confirmed to be a mannequin.”
GWR confirmed all lines had reopened and services had returned to normal by 2pm.
The police car parked up on part of Oxford Road left at around 1.50pm and the ambulances soon followed, with the National Rail workers last to leave the area.
The Wiltshire Air Ambulance circled overhead but did not land.
