The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates Court earlier this week.

PENHILL: Liam Dunwell, of Inglesham Road, has been sentenced for drug driving.

The 31-year-old pleaded guilty to driving an Audi Q3 2000 along Burbage Road on January 7, 2024 while having 39 micrograms of cocaine and 240 micrograms of Benzoylecgonine per litre of blood in his system.

He has been fined £461, banned from driving for 12 months, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs plus £184 to fund victim services.

WROUGHTON: Mark Finch, of Langton Park, has been sentenced for four offences.

The 61-year-old indicated pleas of guilty to assault by beating of an emergency worker – a male police officer – and using racially-aggravated threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause the victim alarm or distress in Swindon on January 13, 2024.

The defendant also pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause two other officers distress on the same date.

He has been fined a total of £900 and ordered to pay £85 in court costs plus £360 to fund victim services.

PENHILL: Two defendants have been sentenced for assaulting the same victim.

Celine Wells, 26, and 29-year-old John Lester – both of Burbage Road - each pleaded guilty to beating a man in Swindon on February 27, 2024.

Wells was fined £100 and must pay £85 in court costs plus £40 to fund victim services, while Lester was fined £200 and must pay £85 in court costs plus £80 to fund victim services.

ABBEY MEADS: James Hinton, of Wynwards Road, has been sentenced for one offence.

The 21-year-old pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of unlawful violence towards a man and woman in Swindon April 1, 2024.

He received a community order that requires him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months and carry out up to five rehabilitation activity days, as well as pay £85 in court costs.

LIDEN: Jamie Bullen, of Anderson Close, has been sentenced for two offences.

The 31-year-old indicated pleas of guilty to having cocaine and assaulting a police officer in Swindon on June 30, 2024.

The Class A drug has been forfeited and destroyed. He has been ordered to pay a fine of £369 as well as £85 in court costs plus £295 to fund victim services.

NORTH SWINDON: Bradley Poole, of Twineham Road, has been sentenced for a driving offences.

The 21-year-old pleaded guilty to using a handheld mobile phone while driving a Toyota along the westbound carriageway of the M4 at Junction 15 on July 1, 2024.

He received six penalty points on his driving licence as well as a fine of £40, and must also pay £85 in court costs plus £16 to fund victim services.

SWINDON: Tony Holmes, of Acacia Grove, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 44-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Fiesta along Florence Street in Swindon on June 29, 2024,  after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath namely 63 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

He received a 20-month driving ban and a £120 fine, and must also pay £48 to fund victim services.

SWINDON: Craig Parmenter, of no fixed abode, has been sentenced for theft from a shop.

The 36-year-old pleaded guilty to taking four hairstyling appliances worth £109.96 from a Swindon TK Maxx on May 17, 2024.

He must pay back the value of the stolen goods in compensation along with a £40 fine and £85 in court costs.
