Two boys were arrested by armed police in Wiltshire after reports of a teenager with an “air rifle.”
Officers were alerted to reports of a teenager carrying what was believed to be an air rifle, on Palmer Road in Devizes, shortly before 11pm on Thursday, July 18.
Firearms units were deployed to an address in the street as a precaution as police entered the property.
Two 16-year-old boys were subsequently arrested on suspicion of public order offences and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
They have both since been released on bail.
Police say there were no reported injuries during the incident or the arrest.
A spokesperson for the force added: “We attended an address in Palmer Road, Devizes, shortly before 11pm on Thursday (July 18) following reports of a teenager with what was thought to be an air rifle.
“Two 16-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of public order offences and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.”
