Pictures have shown the lifelike doll dressed as a child that was thought to be a body on railway tracks in Swindon.
On Friday, July 19, emergency services rushed to the line in Greenbridge after a train driver spotted what he thought was a body on the tracks.
One police car, two ambulances, an ambulance car, and a National Rail response unit surrounded the railway bridge under Swindon Road near Greenbridge Retail Park at around 1pm and a Wiltshire Air Ambulance landed nearby.
Great Western Railway delayed and cancelled services while the emergency services investigated the scene.
But after locating the body, British Transport Police confirmed that the potential 'person' on the tracks had been removed and was actually a model.
A spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the line near Swindon railway station just after 1pm, July 19, to reports of a possible casualty on the tracks.
"Officers attended and it was confirmed to be a mannequin.”
The item was around the size of a five-year-old child.
The doll was then carried by bemused police officers away from the scene.
It was wearing blue jeans with a flower pattern on them, a pink flowery, a hat jumper and black shoes.
It also had long blonde hair emerging from underneath the hat.
After responding, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said in a statement: "We were called to Stratton Green, Stratton St Margaret at 1.23pm today (19 July) after reports of a possible body on the railway line.
"Two crews attended, from Stratton and Swindon, but it was a false alarm and our stop was at 1.36pm."
In an update on the Great Western Railway website, it said: “Following checking reports of an obstruction on the line earlier today between Swindon and Didcot Parkway all lines are now open.
“Train services running through these stations are returning to normal but some services may still be delayed. Disruption is expected until 15:00 19/07.
“Apologies for the disruption to your journey today.”
