Police have visited businesses in Swindon in a bid to crack down on modern slavery.
Officers from Wiltshire Police have been working with the immigration enforcement team to ensure that everyone currently working in the town should be.
More importantly, the county's force aims to make sure that no employees are exploited.
A spokesperson said: "Our officers have been carrying out patrols with the immigration enforcement team to try to combat modern slavery and exploitation of foreign workers.
"We visited businesses to establish safety and security of workers, as well as listen to suggestions from the community and inform individuals at risk of support that could be offered."
Members of the public were also asked to keep an eye out for signs that someone might be a victim of modern slavery and human trafficking, such as a small business appearing to be operating beyond their means.
Employers can deploy a number of tactics, such as hiring foreign national employees, arranging their travel to the UK, and then making the worker pay off a debt.
They can own the housing of their workers and take directly from the employees pay to fund this.
Employees can be forced to be moved around the UK or do not have free access to their finances and documentation.
The spokesperson added: "If you notice the following warning signs, please contact us by calling 101 or online."
