An organisation that helps disabled people in Swindon visit and enjoy the town centre has been given a huge boost.

Colas, a leading infrastructure solutions provider, has contributed £3,000 to Swindon Shopmobility service, to ensure the operation of 25 mobility scooters for one year.

This donation will enable Swindon Shopmobility to buy batteries for their scooters.

This will mean that individuals who use the service, which is run by Voluntary Action Swindon (VAS) will continue to be able to navigate the town centre shops and facilities independently.

A spokesperson said: "The Swindon Shopmobility service, powered by Colas, plays a crucial role in enabling over 2000 individuals each year to independently access shops, cafés, opticians, pharmacies, and banks.

Swindon Shopmobility offers a range of mobility scooters, wheelchairs, and power chairs, available for hire.

Prices start from just £2 per day. Daily and weekly wheelchair hire options are also available, with prices starting at £10 per day or £20 for one week.
