The owners of an independent café are bringing their market event back to a Swindon shopping centre this weekend.
Sugar Shack, owned by husband and wife Dean and Elly Ireland, has gone from strength to strength since opening their first bakery at the Orbital Shopping Park in May 2022.
In February, the couple launched a monthly market event at the Orbital, bringing together local businesses and around 30 stalls after a year of trying to put their plans into action.
But in June their attention shifted to opening a new unit in Westmead Industrial Estate as their bakery, supplying the store, postal deliveries, wholesale and events, and they cancelled the market a week before the event.
The explained their decision on Facebook, saying: “We have been focusing on getting our new bakery up and running in Westmead.
“This takes a lot of effort, resources and of course staff, we don't have the manpower to do both as of currently.
“Although we understand this is disappointing news, as a lot of you look forward to our market. We will be back in July as normal and better than ever!!!”
Now, after successfully getting the bakery set up, the Sugar Shack team are delighted to back running the market at the Orbital on Saturday and Sunday, July 27 and 28.
Dean said: “We’ve been busy focusing on the Westmead unit but that’s opened, so now we can go back to running the market every month.
"We just want to let people know the Orbital market will be on this weekend, all the stalls are full and the weather is looking good.”
Liz from the Sugar Shack team said: “We have veg, bread, cheese, plants, florists, lots of food vendors and more attending this month.
“Sugar Shack will be selling their Sinnerbuns which is our take on cinnamon buns in a wide variety of flavours from classic cinnamon to Nutella, Oreo or caramel. Gurt Wings will also be attending on Sunday who are also very popular."
The couple added: “We would like to say a huge thank you to all our customers first and foremost for continuing to support us in each move we make. You really are more appreciated than you will ever know.
“Secondly, we wouldn’t be able to do this without such a great, hardworking team behind us, our jobs definitely aren’t the easiest at times, but you all show up and continue to work hard.”
