An assistant headteacher who joined a school near Swindon 28 years ago is stepping down.
Michelle Card first joined Noremarsh Junior School in Royal Wootton Bassett in 1996.
Since then, she has become an embodiment of everything the school stands for as assistant headteacher, and a comforting familiar face for generations of young people.
In celebration of her time at the school, children, staff and governors at Noremarsh created a celebratory quilt, made from uniform fabrics from Ms Card's years there.
“Michelle is an excellent teacher and it has been a real privilege to work with her over my time at Noremarsh," said Hilary MacMeekin, Headteacher at Noremarsh Junior School.
"She is always generous with her time, skills, knowledge and understanding and makes everyone within our community feel like they belong.
"She is the embodiment of our school values: Ambition, Belonging, Compassion and she will be hugely missed.”
The end of term was drawn to a close with a celebration picnic and special leaver's assembly, and staff who had worked with Ms Card over the years came together to wish her a fond farewell.
A spokesperson for the school added: "Michelle is a huge part of the school, and all have mentioned how she will be truly missed by the staff and students."
