Suspected shoplifters are in custody after police recovered a stolen haul worth £1,200 from a Swindon supermarket.

Roads Policing Unit officers, armed response vehicle colleagues and Wiltshire Police dog units attended a Lidl on Thursday evening.

They recovered trolleys full of toiletry goods worth £1,200 and arrested three people on suspicion of theft.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “With a Lidl help from our ARV friends and police dogs, together with RPU, Swindon Police are dealing with three in the cells for theft.

“£1,200 worth of toiletry stock recovered - these bandits didn't quite get the clean break they wanted.”
