A man stormed out of court after being slapped with a Stalking Protection Order.

Wiltshire Police had applied for the order against Richard Hubbard because he posed a risk to someone and the order was needed to protect them, they claimed.

Hubbard, from Redhorn Gardens in Devizes, was told by the magistrate at Swindon Magistrates Court they thought there was sufficient evidence to justify putting the interim order in place.

"I have a lot to say and I must stress that I do not want to be interrupted by you," she said.

"We have been listening to what’s been said, and we do feel it is appropriate to make the order, but we have made some amendments to the order.

"The court prohibits you from contacting the victim by any means or inciting another person to do this, this also includes but is not limited to in-person, calls, letters, emails or social media and also includes messaging others about her."

The magistrate added Hubbard would be required to engage with the Wiltshire Crisis Team on his mental health, and Turning Point for alcohol misuse, but the 53-year-old then interrupted.

“I won’t do it, it’s already been done, you can arrest me and throw me in jail now," he said.

Attempts were made to calm him down, but he said: "Just send me to jail, I don’t care, bye-bye."

He then got up and walked out of court before the Magistrates could finish delivering their decision.

He said: "I don’t care. Send me to jail guys. C'est la vie.”

The order is an interim order until the full case can be heard before Swindon Magistrates' Court in October and will be in place until then.
