Police penalised drivers who gathered at an illegal car meet in Swindon.
Officers from the Roads Policing Unit, Special Constables, UASG, and Swindon police worked together to respond to reports of the unlawful gathering on Sunday evening.
They reported four motorists for dangerous driving and issued a section 59 order that allowed the vehicles to be seized because they were being used in a manner that was like to cause alarm, distress or annoyance to the public and being driven carelessly or inconsiderately.
The police also prohibited two cars from being driven and issued traffic offence reports for the dangerous condition they were in.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said the effort delivered “robust policing for dangerous drivers at an illegal car meet”.
The spokesperson added: “Groups of car enthusiasts seemed to float between various industrial estates including Elgin and Hawksworth.
“Officers witnessed general anti-social driving such as hand brake turns, and donuts being performed in front of crowds of people.”
The police launched Operation Staysail in 2022 to target car meets.
Chief Superintendent Phil Staynings previously said: “We will endeavour to ensure the public suffer the minimum amount of disruption from car meets and we will continue to robustly deal with any offences committed.”
