Roadworks on a busy road in Swindon are causing long queues and delaying drivers' journeys.
CityFibre has closed and dug up one lane of Bridge End Road in the direction of Great Western Way near the junction with the Dockle Farmhouse car park.
A traffic light system is stopping vehicles on one side of the road while allowing oncoming cars and vans to approach from the other direction.
This caused long queues during the morning rush hour and added several minutes to people's journeys as the route that includes Gipsy Lane and Bridge End Road is used by many motorists to access Stratton and Greenbridge.
The pedestrian footway on the closed lane is also inaccessible.
The utility asset roadworks started on Wednesday morning and are expected to last until Friday afternoon.
Last December, CityFibre paused the rollout of its £40 million scheme to upgrade Swindon's broadband to gigabit-capable full fibre services, which involved digging up and replacing underground cables on many routes around the town.
It was due to be completed this summer but a spokesperson said in December that an ongoing review of prioritisation meant that planned upgrades in Wroughton and parts of South Swindon would not be finished off in the near future.
