A power cut is affecting more than 600 homes in Old Town.
The outage has hit 625 properties across Dixon Street, Newhall Street, Morse Street, Stanier Street, Deacon Street, Crombey Street, Edmund Street, Whitney Street, Eastcott Hill, Leighfield Close, Stafford Street, Savernake Street, and Swindon Road, amongst others.
The electricity supply to this part of the SN1 postcode area stopped around 5am on Wednesday and an engineer from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks arrived on-site at 5.50am.
The employee is still carrying out a repairs and SSEN aims to restore power to the affected homes by 1pm.
A spokesperson said: "We're aware of a power cut in the area, affecting 625 homes.
"This unplanned fault is affecting a large area and it's likely several streets in your area are affected by the same power cut.
"Once [the engineer] arrives, they will get straight to work on investigating the fault and attempt to restore your power.
"The cause of this power cut is a fault on our underground network.
"This is the most common type of fault we see, and our teams are very experienced in dealing with these issues.
"In most cases, our engineers are able to get your power back on by simply replacing a fuse at the local substation."
